Abstract: The article explores the role of libraries in providing pre-K programs across the U.S. It features a pre-K class opened by the Queens Library in New York City in 2014. Preschool children are expected to benefit from library resources and encounters with subject-area experts. Also discussed are the rising enrollment and funding levels for state-funded pre-K programs and the recognition of the importance of early language development.
