| Abstract: |
The article presents several comments on the Galway Consensus Conference Statement, an effort undertaken as a first step to international collaboration on credentialing in health promotion and health education. Donald S. Burke, Dean of the Graduate School of Public Health in the University of Pittsburgh, comments that health promotion practitioner should consider cultural proficiency, research, and communication. According to Doctor Maria Teresa Cerqueira of Mexico, the Statement strengthens a line of work with much contributions on health promotion. Deputy Executive Director Molly M. Eggleston of the National Board of Public Health Examiners states that communication skills need more emphasis in understanding health literacy, and the connection between environmental and human health. |
