The work that shows up has as objective to value different definitions of competitions, labor competition, formation for competitions and competent worker in the cuban Technical Education and Professional. It used such methods as: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, systematizing, among other; those that allowed to determine that the study of the competitions has been treated fundamentally from different points of view in those that has stoodout, the component cognitivo on the integral vision of the personality of the subject to also conceiving the ethical-humanist components and axiológico. El trabajo que se presenta tiene como objetivo valorar diferentes definiciones de competencias, competencia laboral, formación por competencias y obrero en el marco de la Educación Técnica y Profesional cubana. Se utilizaron métodos: análisis-síntesis, inducción-deducción, sistematización que permitieron determinar que el estudio de las competencias ha sido tratado desde diferentes puntos de vista en los que se ha destacado, fundamentalmente, el componente cognitivo sobre la visión integral de la personalidad del sujeto al concebir además los componentes ético-humanista y axiológico.
