Abstract: The article interviews Alexander Astin, a professor of higher education at the University California, Los Angeles, and director of the Higher Education Research Institute. According to Astin, a greater effort should be made to get students more involved in the learning process. He mentioned that the academic culture in most of the institutions does not encourage conversations about paying attention to the inner self but rather than dwell on the reasons on the absence of such conversations. He laid great emphasis on the concept of spirituality and leadership.
