| Abstract (English): | Exam items are conceived according to several different criteria. Conciliating such a variety of criteria is challenging, especially for an exam as widespread as ENEM. In this paper, a very common type of clause, which is mostly found in the instructions of exam items, is described and analyzed following technical linguistic criteria: gerund clauses, as in “Considering X, do Y”. From a corpus build up by ENEM exams from 2010 to 2019, we assess how these types of instructions are conceived according to standard Portuguese rules prescribed by the traditional grammar. In cases in which the standard rule is not applied, we then discussed whether a simple grammar review would sort out the problem, since, when conceiving an exam question, accurate grammar is crucial, according to technical-evaluating criteria for communication efficiency. | Abstract (Spanish): | Los elementos de prueba se preparan de acuerdo con criterios de diferente naturaleza. Conciliar estos criterios es un desafío, especialmente en una prueba con el alcance de ENEM. En este texto, se describe y analiza un tipo de oración muy común en los comandos de ítems: oraciones gerundivas, como “Considerando X, haz Y”. Para ello, se creó el corpus con pruebas ENEM, realizadas de 2010 a 2019, de las cuales se extrajeron las ocurrencias de oraciones gerundivas. A partir de esta encuesta, se verificó si los comandos así formulados son adecuados a las normas del portugués estándar prescrito por las gramáticas tradicionales. En los casos en que se encuentran desviaciones, se discute si una simple revisión gramatical resolvería el problema, ya que, en la elaboración de los ítems, la corrección gramatical es un criterio técnico inseparable. | Abstract (Portuguese): | Itens de provas são elaborados segundo critérios de diversas naturezas. Conciliar esses critérios é um desafio, sobretudo em uma prova com a abrangência do Enem. Neste texto, descreve-se e analisa-se um tipo de oração muito comum nos comandos de itens: as orações gerundivas, como “Considerando X, faça Y”. Para tanto, foi constituído o corpus com provas do Enem, realizadas de 2010 a 2019, das quais foram extraídas as ocorrências de orações gerundivas. A partir desse levantamento, verificou-se se os comandos assim formulados estão adequados às normas do português padrão prescritas pelas gramáticas tradicionais. Nos casos em que se encontram desvios, se discute se uma simples revisão gramatical resolveria o problema, já que, na elaboração de itens, correção gramatical é um critério técnico indissociável.
