| Abstract: | 71 Salas-Vallina, A., Alegre, J. and López-Cabrales, Á. (2020), "The challenge of increasing employees' wellbeing and performance: how human resource management practices and engaging leadership work together toward reaching this goal", Human Resource Management. doi: 10.1002/hrm.22021. With an organisation investing in the abilities and motivations of their employees, the organisation is making a direct investment in the firm's human capital which, under the right circumstances, will pay dividends for both the organisation and the employees. In this overview, we review the state of the art of research on human capital, high involvement work and worker well-being drawing on the extant literature and seminal work from the foundations of classical economists to recent writings on human resource management (HRM). The motivation in proposing this special issue was to explore the links between human capital, high involvement work and well-being. [Extracted from the article] |
