Abstract: Evidence about the attitudinal factors related to student performance also lends credibility to a fourth assessment question related to student information literacy competence. Information literacy is defined using six learning outcomes: Evaluate the quality of information, Use information effectively for a purpose, Recognize that information is available in a variety of forms, Use information ethically and legally, Employ technologies to create an information-based product, and Determine when information is needed and find it effectively. In addition to a focus on information literacy within the communication course curriculum, students are provided with faculty-developed video tutorials and quiz bank, which is directly aligned to the six student learning outcomes.
