Abstract: This article initiates investigation of relationships across architecture, design, and socialization in Chicana/o higher education - i.e., curricular, instructional, and administrative practices that link Chicana/o communities to post-secondary education - and is basic to subsequent studies that tie ontological and epistemological properties of Chicana/o higher education to structural and ideological projects in the Los Angeles region. Two inter-related projects are introduced here: 1) a curricular economy of the region's 3 California State Universities - i.e., CSU Long Beach, CSU Dominguez Hills, and CSU Los Angeles, and 2) examination of these institutions' role in Chicana/o higher education, viz., regional labor markets.
