Abstract (English): The Municipality of Villa de San Diego de Ubate is recognized for being the dairy capital of Colombia. Its main activities are livestock and agriculture, which imply a high consumption of products for their production. As a result, the rural population burns their waste, emitting greenhouse gases. However, the rural areas of Ubate face limited coverage of 40 % in the garbage collection service due to the conditions of the roads (EMSERVILLA S.A. E.S.P., 2022). As a result, waste management is governed as the municipality's main environmental challenge. To address this situation, EMSERVILLA S.A. E.S.P. In 2021, it introduced the bio-barter initiative led by engineer Danna Gordillo, focused on educating rural residents to separate and manage solid waste through exchanges for products from the family basket. The initiative has the support of the municipal mayor's office "Una Nueva Ubate" together with local associations of environmental managers. This program has the potential to foster a new mentality among rural inhabitants, mainly children, with the aim of mitigating previous environmental impacts through education. The main objective of this dissemination article is to evaluate the environmental and social impact experienced by the Municipality of Ubate through the implementation of the bio-trueque program led by EMSERVILLA S.A. E.S.P. in 2021. For this reason, an investigative methodology will be developed along with the statistical analysis of the strategy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
