The objective of the present work is to systematize the theoretical and methodological background related to the process of professionalizing in the English Language teachers for the improvement of the pedagogical professional performance. A group of methods were used such as the documental analysis, the historical-logical and the systematization. The foundations of the dialectic-materialistic theory were assumed as well as the Theory of Advance Education. The aspects that intervene in the professionalizing process are highlighted as well as the responsibility of the institutions in the improvement of the pedagogical professional performance of the English language teachers. El objetivo de este trabajo es sistematizar los fundamentos teórico-metodológicos relacionados con el proceso de profesionalización de los profesores de lengua inglesa para el mejoramiento del desempeño profesional pedagógico. Se utilizaron los métodos análisis documental, histórico-lógico y sistematización. Se asumen los fundamentos de la teoría dialéctico-materialista y los preceptos de la Teoría de Educación Avanzada. Se enfatiza en los aspectos que intervienen en la profesionalización y en la responsabilidad de las instituciones en el mejoramiento del desempeño profesional pedagógico de los profesores de lengua inglesa.
