| Abstract (English): | This document presents analysis and discussion on the importance of incorporating historical notions, for the teaching of the electromagnetic theory of light proposed by James Clerk Maxwell, from the second half of the 19th century; with the purpose of contributing to improve the interest and conceptual understanding of the principles of physics involved in Physics courses, and thereby improve the learning of students and scholars of the subject.
