Finiteness as an educational topic? This article focuses on the social relevance of a seminar on the topic of death in adult education and, in particular, on the importance of individual confrontation from the perspective of the participating students. In addition to the content-related didactic structure, insights into student projects and the resulting findings on three subject areas (aromatherapy, care & education and training) are presented. Concluding reflections show that the holistic nature of the topic entails, among other things, a personality-building function and requires an interdisciplinary approach, which illustrates the high relevance of the theory-practice link in this area. Endlichkeit als Bildungsthema? Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der gesellschaftlichen Relevanz eines Seminars zum Thema Tod in der Erwachsenenbildung und vor allem mit der Bedeutung der individuellen Auseinandersetzung aus Sicht der teilgenommenen Studierenden. Neben dem inhaltlich-didaktischen Aufbau werden Einblicke in Studierendenprojekte und die daraus resultierenden Erkenntnisse zu drei Themenbereichen (Aromatherapie, Pflege & Aus- und Weiterbildung) dargelegt. Abschließende Reflexionen zeigen auf, dass die Ganzheitlichkeit des Themas unter anderem eine persönlichkeitsbildende Funktion mit sich bringt und eine interdisziplinäre Herangehensweise benötigt, welche die hohe Relevanz der Theorie-Praxis-Verknüpfung in diesem Bereich verdeutlicht.
