Abstract: The article deals with the emerging challenges that librarians and the public face as artificial intelligence (AI) generates incorrect information or is used to sow misinformation and disinformation. Topics include the publication of the results of a study published by the BBC in which ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity were promoted to summarize news stories and the incorporation of commercial and proprietary AI tools in the editorial processes of major news organizations.
