Abstract (English): The Design course at the Huíla Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISPH) of Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University (UMN), our strategy was focused on incorporating ecological and environmental issues and sustainable design concepts into the curriculum of Chairs and final works of the Design course. The goal was to create an environmentally conscious and efficient professional in their design and environmental management, which meant taking on two aspects of training: one aimed at having a general knowledge in shaping values and another focused on rigorously applying the environmental and sustainability criteria in their profession to new scenarios. In the Design course, we set out to train designers who respond to a Professional Model with a high social and patriotic commitment, aware of the need to put design at the service of our society, capable of incorporating an economic, ecological and humanist conscience that contributes For the sustainable development and responsible practices of the design activity, besides developing his professional activity with responsibility and ethics, he creatively faced the solution to the problems of the profession, in any of his areas of expertise. To achieve the above, it is emphasized that the Designers curriculum is directly connected to the latent needs extracted from our sociocultural context which, once characterized, analyzed and valued, become the professional problems to be solved during the course since graduation, university extension and research, translated into teaching exercises. Abstract (Spanish): El curso de Diseño en el Instituto Politécnico Superior Huíla (ISPH) de la Universidad Mandume Ya Ndemufayo (UMN), tiene como estrategia incorporar la sustentabilidad como parte del diseño sostenible en el plan de estudios de las Cátedras y los trabajos finales del curso de diseño. El objetivo era crear profesionales ambientalmente consciente y eficiente en su diseño y gestión ambiental, lo que significaba asumir dos aspectos de la capacitación: uno destinado a tener un conocimiento general en la configuración de valores y otro enfocado en aplicar rigurosamente Criterios ambientales y de sostenibilidad en su profesión ante nuevos escenarios. En el curso de Diseño, se propuso capacitar a los diseñadores que responden a un Modelo Profesional con un alto compromiso social y patriótico, conscientes de la necesidad de poner el diseño al servicio de nuestra sociedad, capaz de incorporar una conciencia económica, ecológica y humanista que contribuya Para el desarrollo sostenible y las prácticas responsables de la actividad de diseño, además de desarrollar su actividad profesional con responsabilidad y ética, se enfrentó creativamente a la solución de los problemas de la profesión, en cualquiera de sus áreas de especialización. Para lograr lo expuesto anteriormente, se enfatiza que el plan de estudios de los Diseñadores está directamente relacionado con las necesidades latentes extraídas de nuestro contexto sociocultural que, una vez caracterizado, analizado y valorado, se convierten en los problemas profesionales que se deben resolver durante el curso desde la graduación, extensión universitaria e investigación, traducida en ejercicios docentes.
