| Abstract (English): |
In this short essay, I will present a very important figure of intellectual, poet and traveller of the age of the Enlightenment, Carlo C. della Torre di Rezzonico (1742-1796). He was the son of the Pliny scholar Anton Giuseppe and cousin of the Pope Clement XIII, Carlo Rezzonico. He was able to conceptualize the relations between Enlightenment and politics and the role played by philosophy in his century. He travelled extensively, leaving a major travel account on London and Britain, where the political myth of England is accompanied by reflections on science, society and landscape. Unfortunately, there is no recent intellectual biography on him available. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
