The article focuses on how Randall de Sève's book, *This Story Is Not about a Kitten*, was utilized by Riverfield Elementary School in Fairfield County, CT, to foster a culture of belonging within the school community. The book's themes of empathy and compassion were integrated into the school's curriculum, with each of the 397 students receiving a personal copy to enhance engagement and promote home-school partnerships. The initiative included parent involvement through listening sessions to discuss belongingness, culminating in student presentations that demonstrated their understanding of the book's messages.
