The Digital Media Observatory of Spain and Portugal, promoted by the European Commission, categorizes false news content into the following themes: politics and elections, health, environment, migration, gender, and security. The consequences of the rise in disinformation are severe, as social polarization extends across all spheres and may be exacerbated by certain hostile or extremist political discourses. This research focuses on analyzing the discourse of the Spanish political party VOX on the social media platform X, with a specific emphasis on two issues: migration and sustainable development. The criminalization of individuals with irregular administrative status and criticism of policies related to the 2030 Agenda are central themes in the party’s discourse, justifying their selection for a joint study. The objective of this research is to analyze the presence of hostility in messages related to these topics, considering publication frequency, employed terminology, and framing strategies. The methodological approach is based on critical discourse analysis (Van Dijk, 1997), and the study period encompasses several electoral processes that took place in Spain over the past year. The sample consists of 696 posts from various VOX-affiliated accounts. The findings indicate that migration is the primary focus of the party’s discourse on this social media platform, characterized by a strong opposition to migrants and their culture. Regarding sustainable development, the party adopts a firm stance against European decisions, often without providing substantive arguments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

El Observatorio de Medios Digitales de España y Portugal, impulsado por la Comisión Europea, agrupa los contenidos de las noticias falsas alrededor de los siguientes temas: políticos y electorales, salud, medio ambiente, migración, género y seguridad. Las consecuencias del aumento de desinformación son graves; se observa una polarización social que se extiende a todos los ámbitos y que puede verse fomentada por determinados discursos políticos hostiles o extremistas. Esta investigación se centra en el estudio del discurso del partido político español VOX en la red social X, poniendo el foco en dos asuntos concretos: la migración y el desarrollo sostenible. La criminalización hacia las personas en situación administrativa irregular y la crítica a las políticas relacionadas con la Agenda 2030 son temas centrales del discurso de este partido que justifican su elección para un estudio en común. La investigación tiene como objetivo analizar el tono de hostilidad presente en los mensajes sobre estas dos temáticas atendiendo a la frecuencia de publicación, la terminología empleada y los encuadres utilizados. El método se basa en el análisis crítico del discurso (Van Dijk, 1997) y el periodo temporal abarca los meses de diferentes procesos electorales acaecidos en España en el pasado año. La muestra de mensajes analizada comprende 696 publicaciones de diferentes perfiles de VOX. Los resultados apuntan a que el asunto migratorio es el tema principal en el discurso del partido en esta red social, con un duro posicionamiento en contra del migrante y de su cultura. Respecto al desarrollo sostenible, el partido se posiciona de forma contundente contra todo lo que representa a las decisiones europeas, pero sin desarrollar argumentos en la mayoría de ocasiones.
