Abstract: The article provides instrument-specific exercises for teaching advanced bow strokes to string orchestra students, from the Illinois State University (ISU) String Project faculty. Topics include the execution of on-the-string staccato strokes for violin, viola, cello and bass, preparatory drills for bouncing strokes, and detailed techniques for spiccato and sautillé strokes on each string instrument.
