Abstract (English): This research was undertaken to critically analyze the scientific content of the Grade 9 Secondary Education Biology Textbook published under the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Model. The textbook, issued by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) and introduced into ninth-grade curricula as of the 2024-2025 academic year, served as the primary research material. Anchored in a qualitative research design, the study adopted a document analysis approach, with particular attention to two major themes included in the textbook (Theme 1: Life; Theme 2: Organization). The analysis revealed a total of 35 scientific inaccuracies or omissions in Theme 1, 34 in Theme 2, and 8 in the Glossary section. Within Theme 1, the highest concentration of errors was observed in "1.6. The Three-Domain System and Its General Characteristics," whereas in Theme 2, the sections "2.2. Organic Molecules" and "2.8. The Organization of Cells, Tissues, Organs, and Systems" contained the largest number of inaccuracies. Conversely, no scientific inaccuracies were identified in sections including "1.3. The Compliance of Scientific Research with Scientific Ethics," "2.3. Reagents Used in the Identification of Organic Molecules," "2.4. Factors Influencing Enzyme Activity," and "2.7. Movement of Small Molecules: Diffusion and Osmosis." When the findings were evaluated in terms of error types, it was determined that the most frequent error in both themes was the definition of the concept. In light of the findings of the research, various suggestions were made for improving textbooks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Turkish): Bu araştırma, Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli çerçevesinde yayımlanan Ortaöğretim Biyoloji 9. Sınıf Ders Kitabında yer alan biyoloji konularını bilimsel içerik açısından incelemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırma materyali olarak MEB tarafından yayımlanan ve 2024-2025 eğitim-öğretim yılından itibaren dokuzuncu sınıflarda okutulmaya başlanan güncel biyoloji ders kitabı seçilmiştir. Nitel araştırma deseni temeline dayanan araştırma, doküman incelemesi yöntemi ile yürütülmüş olup söz konusu kitapta yer alan iki tema (Tema 1: Yaşam, Tema 2: Organizasyon) bilimsel içerik açısından incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulguların değerlendirilmesi sonucunda Tema 1'de toplam 35, Tema 2'de 34 ve Sözlük bölümünde 8 adet bilimsel hata veya eksiklik tespit edilmiştir. Tema 1 altında toplanan konulardan en fazla bilimsel hata "1.6. Üç Üst Âlem (Domain) Sistemi ve Genel Özellikleri" konusunda, Tema 2'de ise "2.2. Organik Moleküller" ve "2.8. Hücre, Doku, Organ ve Sistemlerin Organizasyonu" konularında tespit edilmiştir. "1.3. Bilimsel Araştırmaların Bilim Etiğine Uygunluğu", "2.3. Organik Moleküllerin Tayininde Kullanılan Ayıraçlar", "2.4. Enzim Aktivitesini Etkileyen Koşullar" ve "2.7. Küçük Moleküllerin Hareketi: Difüzyon ve Ozmoz" başlığı altında ele alınan konularda ise herhangi bir hataya rastlanmamıştır. Bulgular hata tipleri açısından değerlendirildiğinde ise her iki temada da en sık kavram tanımı hatasının yapıldığı tespit edilmiştir.
