Abstract: The article provides piano teachers with an overview of research findings on strategies for teaching sight-reading. Intervention studies showed the importance of regular practice and steady tempo, chunking of musical information for cognitive efficiency and focusing on rhythm. Cognitive studies shed light on enhancing eye-hand span, working memory capacity and minimizing visual distractions, while mixed-method studies focused on collaborative playing and fostering positive attitudes.
