The article looks at the bridging processes and considers an example of a picture book for each that can be used by a classroom teacher to explicitly teach students to engage in thinking in order to take meaning from their reading. Topics include research finding by literacy expert, Marie Clay about the basics of accessing a book, skills required in fluent reading, and the use of picture story book to explore interesting vocabulary to build word sets and analyse word meanings. |
