| Abstract: | This article examines how the Frenchlanguage textbook for the third year of secondary education in Algeria mobilizes French to construct a national identity discourse. Through a linguistic, enunciative and didactic analysis of the textbook's textual corpus, we demonstrate that text selection, lexical choices, pedagogical devices, and the emotional markers of testimonies all converge toward a single aim: shaping an Algerian citizen capable of commemorating, feeling, bearing witness, arguing and engaging in French. Particular attention is paid to the emotional dimension of testimony texts, a frequently overlooked vector of identity transmission. The article draws on a reading of the textbook published by the ONPS, intended for all third-year secondary students, regardless of their academic track. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
