Abstract: The article discusses then-California Governor Ronald Reagan's decision to fire University of California (UC) president Clark Kerr in 1967 due to ongoing protests on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley. Republican Party activist Harry Robbins "H.R." Haldeman's role in the removal of Kerr is assessed, as well as the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Chandler family, political dynasties in California, and the UC Board of Regents.
