| Abstract (English): |
The report summarizes the international and interdisciplinary conference “Exploring Vulnerability in Childhood – Between Normalization and Disablement,” which took place in September 2025 at the University of Duisburg-Essen. The focus was on vulnerability, autonomy, and disabilities in childhood, with a special emphasis on the connection between philosophical, educational science, and disability studies perspectives. Vulnerability was discussed as a relational and ambivalent concept that can enable care but also provoke control and exclusion. The conference demonstrated that disability is understood as a relational concept that shapes childhoods and influences the self-perception of children with disabilities. Overall, the event promoted academic exchange and opened up new research approaches linking childhood studies and disability studies. [Extracted from the article] |
| Abstract (German): |
[Extracted from the article] |
