Abstract (English): Emotional intelligence (EI) is a key component for understanding leadership effectiveness in project management processes, as it directly impacts aspects such as motivation, communication quality, and the level of cohesion achieved by work teams. Within this framework, this article examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership in project leaders, aiming to evaluate its impact on effective project execution through factor analysis. The study adopted a quantitative approach, supported by the application of structured questionnaires based on Goleman's model of emotional intelligence and the transformational leadership test developed by Hermosilla et al. (2016). These instruments were administered to a sample of 30 leaders from both public and private sector institutions. The results demonstrated high internal consistency of the instruments used, with Cronbach's alpha coefficients of α = 0.89 and α = 0.91, respectively. Factor analysis identified three core dimensions: self-awareness and self-regulation; empathy and social skills; and intrinsic motivation, which together explain 68.4% of the total variance. A positive and statistically significant correlation was also found between the dimensions of empathy and social skills and the components of inspirational motivation and individualized consideration characteristic of transformational leadership. It is concluded that emotional competencies are crucial for the successful execution of projects and the strengthening of organizational leadership. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): La inteligencia emocional (IE) se configura como un componente clave para comprender la eficacia del liderazgo en los procesos de gestión de proyectos, en la medida en que incide de forma directa en aspectos como la motivación, la calidad de la comunicación y el nivel de cohesión alcanzado por los equipos de trabajo. En este marco, el presente artículo examina la relación existente entre la inteligencia emocional y el liderazgo transformacional en líderes de proyectos, con el objetivo de evaluar su incidencia en la ejecución efectiva de los proyectos a partir de un análisis factorial. El estudio adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo, apoyado en la aplicación de cuestionarios estructurados basados en el modelo de inteligencia emocional propuesto por Goleman, así como en la prueba de liderazgo transformacional desarrollado por Hermosilla et al. (2016). Estos instrumentos se administraron a una muestra compuesta por 30 líderes pertenecientes a instituciones tanto del sector público como privado. Los resultados evidenciaron una alta consistencia interna de los instrumentos utilizados, con coeficientes Alfa de Cronbach de α = 0.89 y α = 0.91, respectivamente. A partir del análisis factorial se identificaron tres dimensiones centrales autoconciencia y autorregulación; empatía y habilidades sociales; y motivación intrínseca, las cuales explican en conjunto el 68.4 % de la varianza total. De igual forma, se constató la existencia de una correlación positiva y estadísticamente significativa entre las dimensiones de empatía y habilidades sociales y los componentes de motivación inspiradora y consideración individualizada propios del liderazgo transformacional. Abstract (Portuguese): A inteligência emocional (IE) é um componente fundamental para a compreensão da eficácia da liderança em processos de gestão de projetos, uma vez que impacta diretamente aspectos como motivação, qualidade da comunicação e nível de coesão alcançado pelas equipes de trabalho. Nesse contexto, este artigo examina a relação entre inteligência emocional e liderança transformacional em líderes de projeto, visando avaliar seu impacto na execução eficaz de projetos por meio de análise fatorial. O estudo adotou uma abordagem quantitativa, apoiada pela aplicação de questionários estruturados baseados no modelo de inteligência emocional de Goleman e no teste de liderança transformacional desenvolvido por Hermosilla et al. (2016). Esses instrumentos foram aplicados a uma amostra de 30 líderes de instituições dos setores público e privado. Os resultados demonstraram alta consistência interna dos instrumentos utilizados, com coeficientes alfa de Cronbach de α = 0,89 e α = 0,91, respectivamente. A análise fatorial identificou três dimensões principais: autoconsciência e autorregulação; empatia e habilidades sociais; e motivação intrínseca, que juntas explicam 68,4% da variância total. Uma correlação positiva e estatisticamente significativa também foi encontrada entre as dimensões de empatia e habilidades sociais e os componentes de motivação inspiradora e consideração individualizada, característicos da liderança transformacional.
