| Abstract (English): | The book *Educating in Empathy: How to Learn to Put Yourself in Someone Else’s Shoes* by Carina V. Kaplan analyzes the affective dimension as a central axis in school trajectories, pedagogical practices, and processes of inclusion and exclusion in contemporary education. The author approaches empathy as a social practice and ethical competence that influences educational justice and equality of opportunities, linking emotions, relationships, and recognition with the production of inequalities. Through an interdisciplinary theoretical framework and empirical material, Kaplan examines how school institutions generate emotional climates that affect student participation and retention, highlighting the “emotional labor” in school life. Finally, she proposes collective happiness as an ethical-political horizon, emphasizing the school as a space to build meaning, care, and mutual recognition in the face of social inequalities.
