| Abstract: | The article discusses the efforts taken by U.S. state governments to assist its residents in paying their heating bills in February 2006. States are helping people pay their heating bills by adding state funds to the money they receive from the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The measure raises eligibility levels and allows low-and moderate-income residents to take an income tax deduction of up to $800 for winter heating costs. |
