| Abstract: | The article reports on the successful implementation of a single lunch period for the entire James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. It is unanimously reported that a better school climate has resulted from the common lunch schedule. The suspension rate dropped 15 percent, academic achievement increased dramatically and staff congeniality improved. The process evolved over a six year period. Parent, student and community involvement participated in the single lunch initiative. |
