| Abstract: |
The article focuses on the curricular changes and the major laboratory investments made by the Colby College in Waterville, Maine to incorporate the geographic information system (GIS) in its undergraduate research. It also illustrates how students in its Environmental Studies (ES) Program used the GIS to demonstrate the opportunities brought by the engagement of students to technology. Moreover, it discusses the challenges encountered in developing the program and the lessons learned in overcoming those challenges. |
