Abstract: The article discusses ways to improve the technology utility of library reference desks. The article describes how libraries can offer student patrons high-tech support through the use of such tools as computers, wireless Internet, swivel-top monitors, laser-jet printers, cell phones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), power outlets, fax machines, digital scanners, copy machines, and glass counter top desks. Subjects under discussion include the utility of private consultation rooms, individual administrator offices, and technology consultants.
