Abstract: The article advises music educators to examine the use and performance of sacred music (SM)in the secular context of schooling and music education in Newfoundland and Labrador. She defined SM as any vocal or instrumental music with perceived or intended religious orientation or text, which is designed for a sacred setting or a secular setting. Benefits and challenges of the inclusion of SM are also discussed.
