Abstract: The article discusses the benefits of reading workshops and the role of the teacher-librarian. Collaboration between reading teachers and teacher-librarians, the format of a reading workshop, and the ways in which teacher-librarians can promote literacy through book talks, read alouds, and strategy work are examined. Benefits of continued contact between students reading below their grade level and teacher-librarians are examined and the importance of consultation to discover appropriate reading materials is explored.
