Abstract (English): This work presents a sonar sensor project for motion studies in experimental physics based on the ultrasound pulse-eco technique. Details of the project from both hardware and embedded software are discussed from its most basic components. Physical tests relating to performance were carried out by comparing this sensor with a professional ruler as well as another sonar sensor, brand Vernier, available at national market. These tests indicate the resolution of our motion sensor is about 1 cm, and absolute error relating to the standard rule stays in the range of 1 cm to 2 cm. Our sensor is also tested by applying it on the task of describing position versus time concerning to the movement of a cylinder descending a tilted plane, rolling without slipping, for the which a maximum deviation of 5% in relation to the Vernier reference sensor is obtained.
