Abstract:	The article discusses vocabulary literacy which aims to expand the students' word knowledge and word study beyond definitional level in order to increase comprehension. According to the author, students process word meanings more deeply when vocabulary is taught using a comprehension-based vocabulary literacy approach. It also highlights the instructional guidelines for vocabulary literacy which help teachers to think more metacognitively and broadly about word study.
