Abstract: The article discusses school leadership in light of the career of Steve Jobs, the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Apple Inc. computer company who was known for his abrasive management style. The author looks at basketball coach Bobby Knight, and the importance of respectful cooperation in education. Topics include the duties of school principals such as student achievement and school budget management, as well as comments about Jobs by writers Walter Isaacson and Malcolm Gladwell. The author emphasizes the importance of balancing student development with obtaining high standardized test scores.
