The author discusses the effectiveness of author studies as a strategy for engaging pre-service teacher in the study of children's literature. The author was a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania when the idea of author studies was introduced to her by children's literature professor Doctor Lawrence Sipe. She also describes the author study assignment given by Sipe and the author study project she introduced to undergraduate teacher candidates in Kutztown University. |
