Title: NOQUITOHEDRA.
Authors: Stephenson, Paul1 (AUTHOR)
Source: Mathematics Teaching. Sep2010, Issue 219, p19-21. 3p.
Subject Terms: Polyhedra models, Geometrical constructions, Geometry, Vertex operator algebras
People: Descartes, René, 1596-1650
Abstract: The author gives advice on the construction of polyhedra. The author describes a common error he calls “equatorial misfit,” which occurs when the two halves of a polyhedra are misaligned. He also discusses “Satterthwaite solids,” which occur when an excess in a vertex on one side of a polyhedron is compensated by a deficiency on the other. The theories of René Descartes in relation to polyhedra creation is also explored.
