Abstract: The article discusses the changes to diagnosis criteria presented in the fifth edition of the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders" (DSM-5) from the American Psychiatric Association. The authors contend there is no need for the concern some have that individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) will not be diagnosed as a result of changes to the criteria. Also discussed is the work of the DSM-5 Workgroup on Neurodevelopmental Disorders in making criteria adjustments.
