Abstract: The article discusses an educational model designed to improve the vocabulary learning of early childhood education students. It notes that the model was framed in terms of decision-making and can be implemented during shared reading lessons. According to the authors, teachers should identify all words in a story that children are unfamiliar with, select a small set of vocabulary words to address, and determine the best teaching methods to support children's vocabulary acquisition. An example is provided of Head Start teacher using the model to teach students vocabulary from the book "Where the Forest Meets the Sea" by Jeannie Baker.
