| Abstract: |
The article offers insights on the use of fingers in teaching mathematics to elementary students. It notes the emergence of abacus and chisenbop schools in Canada which use low-technology tools, such as fingers, to teach children to understand place value and perform complex calculations without the help of pen or paper. In the film "Stand Up and Deliver," the mathematics teacher challenges his students to learn calculus to build up their self-esteem. |
