Abstract: The article discusses the implications of the destructive messiness of teachers commenting on students' papers by focusing on the seemingly haphazard doodles, circles and hatchmarks teachers make on students' texts. According to the article, such commentaries not only fail to communicate to students but also waste teachers' time. These commentaries also highlight the need for teachers to practice what they preach about effective communications to achieve the greatest results for students.
