Abstract (English): English children's literature author David Almond, wrote many books for children and young adults. His book "Skelling" translated into Turkish and published at 2004 with a title "Garajdaki Giz" (Mystery in the Garage). The publishing time of this book in England was 1998. The book is addressed to 10-12 years old children. The purpose of this article is to discuss the relations of David Almond's book "Garajdaki Giz" with magical realism. In order to make this discussion, the theorical perspective will be gathered from the narrations written with a magical realist standpoint. "Garajdaki Gi"z will be analized by the common proporties of magical realist works and by examining the relation of children's literature with magical realism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Turkish): İngiliz çocuk edebiyatı yazarı David Almond, çocuklar ve gençler için birçok yapıt kaleme almıştır. "Garajdaki Giz" adıyla Türkçeye çevirilen ve ilk baskısı 2004'te yapılan yapıtının özgün adı "Skellig"tir. "Skellig"in özgün dildeki ilk baskısı İngiltere'de 1998 yılında yapılmıştır. Yapıt, on-on iki yaş aralığındaki çocuklara seslenen bir çocuk romanıdır. Bu çalışmada David Almond'un "Garajdaki Giz" adlı romanı, büyülü gerçekçilik ekseninde değerlendirilecektir. Bu değerlendirmeyi yapabilmek için gerekli olan kuramsal çerçeve, büyülü gerçekçi anlatıların ortak özellikleri ve çocuk edebiyatı ile büyülü gerçekçilik ilişkisi ele alınarak çizilecek ve yapıt bu doğrultuda çözümlenecektir.
