Abstract: The authors examine the disproportional evaluation of a child's development and behavior. Topics discussed include the method used to evaluate the behavioral and developmental conditions of a young child, the reason behind the disproportional evaluation, the parental belief about childhood development and behavior and the performance of the diagnostics test. Also presented are the racial and ethnic differences in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism diagnosis rates.
