| Abstract: |
The regularities governing the transition of a gasless combustion wave across an air gap separating two cylindrical samples of different diameters, prepared from a Ti–Si mixture, are studied. Critical conditions for this transition process are investigated using both experimental and computational methods. A mathematical model is proposed, and, in conjunction with experimental data, it is used to calculate the effective emissivity of the combustion surface. An estimate for the emissivity factor of titanium silicide is obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
