Abstract: Chapter 10 of the book "Petroleum Reservoir Simulations: A Basic Approach" is presented. It discusses the basics of modeling a black-oil reserve using multiphase flow. Topics include engineering concepts for multiphase flow in porous media, and developing the flow equation for any component in the system in a 1D rectangular reservoir. Solution methods like the implicit-pressure-explicit-saturation (IMPES) method and simultaneous solution (SS) method are also discussed.
