Abstract: Compiled in this notebook is material from an Earth Control and Investigations Course offered by the Earth Science Branch of the Division of General Research, Engineering and Research Center, Denver, Colorado. The training is designed to promote consistency and uniformity in control and investigation procedures throughout the Bureau of Reclamation. Introductory material includes a description of the course, class schedule, names of instructors and participants. Major portion of the notebook contains outlines of each of the 33 lectures, space for note taking, and study references where appropriate. Earth dams, canals and miscellaneous structures, foundations and materials, filters, geology, soils, rock mechanics, test pits, drill and auger holes, field permeability tests and project planning are studied.
