| Abstract: | The performance specifications of furniture and equipment for open education and open-plan schools differ from conventional classroom furniture in that it must be easily moved, have a range of dimensions, contain multipurpose interchangeable components, and be designed to accommodate a variety of student/teacher uses. The author suggests some solutions to specific problems in the areas of seating, work surfaces, and storage and display. Some suggestions are also provided for (1) mobile partitions (to define space), (2) storage (mobile), (3) seating, (4) work surfaces, (5) teacher stations, and (6) play.
