| Abstract: |
The guidelines were written to promote job growth and improvement in the personnel who manage, operate, and maintain wastewater treatment plants. Trained operators and technicians are the key components in any water pollution control facility. The approach is to move from employment to training through specific modules for 21 standard job classifications of positions in wastewater treatment plants. Related occupational summaries show the specifications for each job, the job description, basic qualifications, additional training needed, sources of training, and entry and advancement information. The training modules cover 46 courses of instruction to be included in each training program. Each module has statement of purpose, content, topics, and effective training procedures. The modules may provide the basis for the development of a training program manual for wastewater treatment plant workers. A brief final section outlines a training plan and includes a fold-out planning grid for use in guiding the career development and training of wastewater treatment plant personnel. (Author/MF) |
