Topics of chapters are acoustics, systems, equipment, sound for a theatrical production, recording and editing techniques, composing and creating sound effects, music in the theatre, and psychoacoustics. The explanations of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and the scientific principles of equipment are basic. Students are thus encouraged to do additional studies in these subjects and to be creative and experimental, channeling their creative energies into a production situation rather than a theoretical project.
