| Abstract: | This manual contains ideas and resources to help K-12 teachers plan bicentennial projects and teach about U.S. colonial history. Contents include the following: descriptions of bicentennial projects for classes including community studies and cross-age teaching; a bibliography of bibliographies, general teacher resource books, and books for young readers on America's colonial period; a topical bibliography for students and teachers on the areas of agriculture, architecture, art, bicentennial publications, costumes, crafts, ethnicity, music, oral history, and folklore; sources of audiovisual aids on colonial history and a list of suggested films; guidelines for several kinds of projects including exhibits, research of historic buildings, student interviews, and use of primary sources; lists of resource centers which are sources of educational information; classroom activities for science, social studies, and language arts courses; and lists of places to visit throughout Massachusetts.
